A Note on Results and Expectations

EMDR intensives can be a powerful catalyst for healing, but every person’s process is unique. Results vary depending on factors like trauma history, nervous system readiness, internal parts dynamics, and external stressors. Some clients experience notable relief after a single session, while others benefit from multiple intensives or continued integration work over time.

It’s important to understand that EMDR intensives are not meant to replace weekly psychotherapy, nor do they diminish the value of ongoing therapeutic work. In fact, weekly sessions offer a vital space to reflect, verbally process, and stabilize between intensive experiences. Many clients find that combining intensives with weekly therapy enhances both depth and sustainability of healing.

I encourage clients to approach intensives with openness rather than rigid expectations. The assessment phase is a space to clarify your goals, discuss what’s realistic within the time we have, and collaboratively determine whether this format is a good clinical fit. Tempering expectations doesn’t mean lowering hope—it means honoring your nervous system’s pace and creating room for meaningful, embodied change..
